Polewali, August 23, 2024 – In order to improve statistical literacy in the university environment, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Polewali Mandar Regency together with the Islamic Institute (IAI-DDI) of Polewali Mandar have established a collaboration regarding the implementation of a "Statistics Corner" at the IAI-DDI Polewali Mandar Campus. The initial step of this collaboration was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was held in the Rector's Room of the IAI-DDI Polewali Mandar Campus. The MoU was signed by the Rector of IAI-DDI Polewali Mandar, Prof. Dr. H. Anwar Sewang, M.Ag., and the Head of BPS of Polewali Mandar Regency, Sarifuddin, S.ST., M.M. As a follow-up, the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was carried out on August 27, 2024 at the BPS Office Hall of Polewali Mandar Regency. The signing of this PKS was signed by Dr. Rini, SE., M.Si. Ak. CA., Dean of the Faculty of Economics IAI-DDI Polewali Mandar, and Sarifuddin, S.ST., M.M., Head of BPS Polewali Mandar Regency.
IAI-DDI Polewali Mandar and BPS Polewali Mandar Regency agreed to cooperate in the provision, utilization, and development of statistical data and information to support higher education tasks. The scope of this cooperation includes education, research, community service, development of human resource competencies, support for experts, and development of higher education. In addition, this cooperation also includes organizing workshops, training, seminars, exhibitions, and other scientific activities.
"We warmly welcome this cooperation. Lecturers and students can certainly get education about statistical data from BPS Polewali Mandar Regency," said Prof. Dr. H. Anwar Sewang.
The implementation of this cooperation is also in line with the government's duties in the field of statistics as regulated in Law No. 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics. Dr. Rini expressed her appreciation for this cooperation with the hope that it can improve the quality of services in the fields of education and community service.
Head of BPS Polewali Mandar Regency, Sarifuddin, explained, “The signing of this MoU is the initial legal basis for the implementation of mutually beneficial cooperation, both for IAI-DDI and BPS Polman. This cooperation includes the socialization and utilization of statistical data as well as improving the quality of service. For example, students are given the opportunity to do PKL at BPS throughout West Sulawesi. In addition, in the implementation of KKN in the village, students can get HR provision related to the collection, processing, and creation of graphs and infographics for the preparation of village monographs at their KKN locations.”
